Fall Prevention Tips: Help Us Help You

You already know we LOVE coming out and dealing with your wildlife issues—but we also like helping you help yourselves.

Sadly, it’s getting to be that time of year. Temperatures are dipping, leaves are changing and dropping, and all the beautiful landscaping we took pride in all year is getting ready to go dormant. Projects around the house may have been put off in exchange for good times and BBQs.

Meanwhile, while we were cooking steaks on the grill and learning to wakeboard, critters around our homes spent the summer sneaking seeds and nesting materials inside. Bats were having their young—and so were the squirrels. And THAT’S why we end up at your homes.

In large part, meeting us at your home is avoidable. Homeowners need to be diligent and aware of what’s happening around their property.

Simple Prevention Steps That Make a Big Difference

  • Maintain your yard. Don’t let leaves pile up against or around the foundation. They hold moisture, which can rot wood and create access points. They also provide great hiding spots and safe passageways for rodents.
  • Keep shrubbery and landscaping trimmed back. Overgrowth creates the same type of safe haven near your home.
  • Keep garage doors closed whenever possible. If you must store grass seed or similar materials in the garage, make sure they are kept in a sealable steel container to prevent rodent access.
  • Periodically inspect your home. Small gaps, loose trim, damaged vents, and foundation cracks can quickly turn into entry points.

You don’t want to come home from a nice weekend away to discover rodents chewed the water line behind the dishwasher and flooded the basement—or worse, damaged wiring and caused a fire.

If you’re unsure about a potential issue, contact us for a free inspection and peace of mind.

GOOD LUCK!!!!
